Hillary Forces Wooing Jeb Bush Donors

Hillary Clinton’s people are seeking out Jeb Bush’s donors. They want to use their vast resources to defeat Trump in the general election. Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola, and Jimmy Dore, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

“Hillary Clinton’s supporters in recent days have been making a furious round of calls to top Bush family donors to try to convince them that she represents their values better than Donald Trump, multiple sources in both parties told POLITICO.

The moves come as Clinton and the Democratic Party try to take advantage of deep unease among establishment Republicans on Wall Street and elsewhere with Trump’s emergence as the presumptive Republican nominee.

Top targets for the Clinton team include people like Woody Johnson, Jeb Bush’s former finance chair and the owner of the New York Jets. In recent days, Bush’s brother and father, former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, have said they plan to skip Trump’s nominating convention.

One person close to Clinton said supporters of the former secretary of state drew up a list of Wall Street donors who supported Jeb Bush and other unsuccessful Republican candidates months ago but wanted to wait until Trump locked down the nomination before beginning to make the calls.”

In 2002 Cenk Uygur launched an online program called "The Young Turks," which he billed as the first video news show on the Internet. In December 2011 Uygur took the program, with his name added to the title to differentiate it from the online show, to television on Current TV. The nightly show features guests who offer their opinions on topics from the worlds of politics and pop culture. Although Uygur was born in Turkey, the show's title is not related to his nationality. It refers to a phrase used to describe someone who is an insurgent or radical in a political party who advocates for changes in the group.

  1. The Democratic Party should be PUNISHED for not supporting the people. STOP giving them money. Let Hillary's big money donors foot the bills. After all, it's their party, not ours.

  2. This could be the perfect time for the Dems to put through some progressive reforms – given the Republicans are eating out of her hands.  But Hilary is so sold-out to the Centrist orthodoxy –  she will refuse to fix the roof while the sun is shining. Not for any political considerations – but because she doesn't want to.

  3. The clintons aren't just politicians anymore. They are often the kind of politicians called "super politicians." No conscious, no empathy. We can talk about how they got there, but first, we need to bring them to heal

  4. Sorry, if HRC gets the nomination I am voting for Trump. A third party vote is not as likely to keep HRC from the presidency, but an ANTI-HRC vote for Trump might.

Sure, he's a P.T.Barnum buffoon. However, he is unlikely to get a thing done…save for destroying the Republican Party and indirectly helping the Progressive movement. Hillary will get a LOT done for the 0.01% and will be able to help her kleptocracy on Day 1 of her presidency. She will also consolidate her power by consuming any Progressive threats in her sight.

    Vote Trump. IMHO.

  5. TYT is to the Extreme left as the tea party is to the Extreme right. They are against Hillary who is centered when you've had several years partisan politics you need someone in the middle who could reach all Americans TYT is for dividing Americans.

  6. MURICA deserves $HILLARY. I hope she starts several new wars, drafts all her supporters and their kids, and increases the debt. MURICA loves flip floppers, liars, corrupt scumbags and corporate sell outs…so MURICA deserves $HILLARY.

  7. Jeb Bush – Big Banks, Military Industrial Complex, Big Corporations
Hitlary Clinton – Big Banks, Military Industrial Complex, Big Corporations
There are no republicans, there are no democrats, and the American people don't count.

  8. How much more evidence do people need in order to see that Hillary never stopped being a Republican Goldwater Girl? It's who she really is and no amount of Progressive pressure is going to change that. Being a Democrat is only a label that she took on because of her husband. She is politically ambivalent and always falls back on expedience, rather than values/principles, as her default.

  9. Sure as hell money can corrupt and affect you. She even admitted it herself a couple of weeks ago. She intentionally refused admitting that she took money from the fossil fuel industry, and that she doesn't want it which implies that the money that you receive from such industries or corporations does indeed influence your policy.

  10. Stephen Hayes, Senior Writer of Weekly Standard (a conservative) says that Yrump is a PROGRESSIVE and that is why he won't vote for trump. While the policies of Hillary and Bush are pretty much the same.

  11. In 2000, Sanders voted for the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, a landmark bill that blocked federal agencies from regulating CREDIT DEFAULT SWAPS — the complex contracts at the heart of the 2008 financial crisis.
