Trump Shows Congressional Black Caucus How Much He Cares…

Trump asked a reporter to set up a meeting with the CBC. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, discuss. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

“President Donald Trump, during a heated press conference where he repeatedly sparred with the press, asked veteran African-American journalist April Ryan if she could help set up a meeting between him and the Congressional Black Caucus, asking her, “Are they friends of yours?”…

“Well I would, tell you what, do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?” Trump asked.

“I’m just a reporter. I know some of them,” Ryan replied.

“Let’s go, let’s set up a meeting. I would love to meet with the Black Caucus,” Trump continued.

Shortly after the press conference, Ryan took to Twitter to denounce the president’s request, saying: “I am a journalist not a convener! But thank you for answering my questions.”…
The Congressional Black Caucus responded to Trump’s call for a meeting by pointing to their letter addressed on Jan. 19 inviting Trump to “engage in an earnest effort to work together on these issues,” which the caucus sent went unanswered.

“Hi, @realDonaldTrump. We’re the CBC. We sent you a letter on January 19, but you never wrote us back. Sad!” the caucus wrote on Twitter.”*

  1. I was watching it live and I'm pretty sure that when he was rambling on about inner city crime and such, he referred to the blacks that were terrified to leave their homes as 'Your People' (referring of course to the reporter). If someone can confirm or deny, please do. I was working at the time and listening to it through headphones.

  2. his forms of campaigning to black people were paying off pastors so they could outreach for him and saying "you black people suck anyway what do you have to lose" at a rally full of white people. in his defense when he said "are they friends of yours" she did say "well I know some of them." other than that we get to watch in real-time how every one of his businesses collapsed, since he's running the oval office like a boardroom.

  3. Someone should tell John to stop trying to be funny as HE IS NOT FUNNY. John, stick to your sociology facts and commentary. Your attempts at trying to be funny and entertaining are pathetic and annoying and unnecessary. Leave the funny stuff to Cenk and Jimmy.

  4. He has a list of insiders and outsiders. He ignores all outsiders. He is disinterested if there is no immediate bright light shone on his legitimacy. The narrative of outsiders destroying the greatness of America allows him to create outsider categories to throw rocks at. The press, leaker insiders, concerned caucuses, the security services, the judiciary; the list goes on… Female, black and a journalist that would be the intersection of an outsider supergroup on a Venn diagram of outsider opinion for him…
